Richard L. Schreiner, MD

Dr. Richard Schreiner is a native Hoosier from Hammond, Indiana. He received his bachelor's degree from St. Louis University and his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, where he also completed his pediatric residency. He received his neonatology training at Indiana University and the University of Colorado, returning to Indiana University in 1975 as a faculty member in the department of pediatrics at Indiana University and a neonatologist at Riley Hospital for Children.

Dr. Schreiner was named director of the Section of Neonatology in 1980, chief of Pediatrics at Wishard Hospital in 1983 and chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine and physician-in-chief of Riley Hospital in 1987. In 1997, he was named medical director of Children's Services for Clarian Health.

He has published more than 100 medical articles, authored two textbooks and developed more than 20 continuing medical education video tapes and five infant simulators to assist in the teaching of procedural skills to students and physicians. Presently, Dr. Schreiner is devoting a significant percent of his efforts to the development of better health care delivery systems for children in Indiana and the development of better pediatric educational programs for medical students, residents and practitioners.
