Child Protection Program Services

Current Programs

Community Initiatives

The Child Protection Program at Indiana University Medical Center includes multi disciplinary clinical services and professional education to improve the evaluation and care of maltreated children in Indianapolis and other Indiana communities. The Child Protection Program is a leader in the community and State in providing medical evaluations for suspected abuse and neglect victims, and promoting community collaboration in the evaluation process.

The dominant driving force for this service is the tremendous need for expert medical evaluation and care of allegedly maltreated children. The programs offer clinical evaluation of suspected victims of child abuse; crisis counseling services for families and education for professionals, professional consultation for health care providers, child protection services, law enforcement officers or other professionals; expert testimony in legal settings; professional education; and leadership in identifying and solving community issues dealing with child abuse and domestic violence.

Vision

The Child Protection Program is highly visible as a leader in the state for medical evaluation for children who are suspected to have been abused or neglected, provides consultation and education to community professionals dealing with child abuse, and continues community and state service and leadership in child abuse issues. New initiatives are in keeping with the current clinical setting and further support or develop those areas.
