Child life services focused on individual needs

Riley's tradition of exceptional non-medical service to children and their families will be advanced within the Riley Heart Center.

Child life experts will be involved in pre-operative procedures working to help the child understand what's happening and to reduce stress and fear. During difficult or painful procedures, a child life specialist can be there to help distract and soothe the child.

Post operative education is a part of every child's stay, and play time sessions - including music therapy - will take place throughout the unit.
